Well I have been here for just over a month. I have found some light work so I can still train hard and pay rent. I am making a lot of positive changes in my Pole Vault. Kevin (the coach) has been changing a few things but with each meet I am starting to see some good changes happen.

I have competed four times this past month. I opened in Michigan with a 4m jump from a shorter approach I was happy with. Although the video would suggest I may have been resorting to bad habits or old habits :). The next couple of meets my runway was feeling inconstant and I found it hard to relax and do what I have been doing in practice. I went back to full approach and have jump 3.90m. The last meet I was in was probably my best meet for seeing new changes in my vault. I was more Constance and felt more relaxed. Although the height was only 3.80m I am starting to see some good things and am excited to compete more!

So currently my day is pretty fun I am doing what I love and enjoying every moment of it. I wake up go for a light jog do some core. Eat breakfast drink coffee. Usually during the day Dayna (training partner/roommate)and I are busy volunteering at track meets or giving motivational speeches to school kids. Then we have a 3hr practices or so and go to work for a couple of hours. Currently Dayna and I are working for a guy on our track team doing admin. type work. Its easy and he understand if we have to go way for meets or need to schedule our hours different so we can train.

So that is my day in a nut shell! If everyone could do what they really love in this world I think we would all be happier. So maybe do at least one thing a day you love and enjoy the moment!

Settling in

I have been in Windsor for just over a week now. I am settling in and enjoying my training. The facilities here are awesome, and I am getting some great technical work in. Kevin is the coach here in Windsor, him and I seem to be off to a great start. He is helping me to get my step out which allows me to have a free take off. Free take off allows me to hold higher on bigger poles, and therefore will get me to those higher heights! We still are working on getting to know each other, but I look forward to having him as a coach. I live and train with another Vaulter Dayna Maaten. Having a consistence training partner will really make a difference for me. I have always trained on my own. I can already see the benafits to having a great training partern like dayna. We are Planning for out doors, and start competing next weekend in Michigan. I am looking foreword to these up coming meets.

A little brief History

I have been pole vaulting for several years in the past season I have had my greatest achievements. I placed 3rd at nationals, which qualified me for the Francophone Games. At this international event I accomplished a personal best of 4.10m, as result I brought home the bronze medal. My Pole Vaulting career is attaining a new milestone every season paving the way to a bright promising future.

When I was young I always enjoyed being in competitive sports. Weather I was tumbling in the gymnastics center, hitting tennis balls on the court, or vaulting over bars, someday I knew I would achieve excellence in the sport I had the most passion for. Pole vaulting was my niche! When I am pole vaulting nothing else matters, I feel truly myself and confident that this is my endeavor in life. In my youth I knew I had always wanted to aspire for the Olympics, this goal I look forward to accomplishing with the great anticipation of 2012. As I learn in life never to expect success, but to know that success will follow, ambition, diligence, and heart, I am tranquil with confidence. Through the rough times and hardship I have overcome gives me resilient strength and a humble mind to persevere and complete my most endearing goals.
Currently I have returned home from training in new Zealand with Jeremy Mccoll, I was able to get some great base training in and had some great results along with winning new Zealand nationals. I have been invited back to compete and train internationally. Among this offer I have also been presented with scholarships and training requests nationally. Unfortunately Edmonton does not have the facilities or coaching I need to help advance me. However, there are numerous possibilities for an aspiring athlete in Ontario; presently I will be looking to relocate from Edmonton to Windsor within April to pursue an advanced training program. I am pleased to report that the Common Wealth Games will be held in India this year. I will be attending the qualifying rounds with great expectation for competing in this international event.
The Goal is to create a supportive environment and surround myself with people who are positive and believe in me so that I can accomplish all my dreams!!
